How to change your blog backround

I said I would give a tutorial on how to change blog backgrounds. It took me awhile to get around to it with the holidays and all but here it goes. I use Photobucket so I am going to use that as my example because I am not sure how other photo programs work.

#1. The first thing you want to do is find the background that you would like to use. On mine, the is the paper with the snowflakes on it. Then you will chose what is called the outer wrapper. On mine this is the white paper. I purchased digital scrapbook paper for my backgrounds, but you can choose whatever you would like. Once you have those picked out, upload them to your picture host. In photobucket, it will then give you the html code you will need to copy & paste into the edit template html. The code will look something like this:
In photobucket you will want to use the Direct Link code.

#2. After you have done all that, you will want to go into blogger and edit your template. Click on the edit HTML tab. Then look in the HTML for body { background:#ffffff;background-image: url This is where you will want to paste you code. This is how it should look when you paste your code:
body { background:#ffffff;background-image: url(;background-repeat:repeat-xy;
Make sure you have the repeat:repeat-xy in there because that will make sure it repeats the pattern. At this point, I would save you template and view it to see if you did it right. I did that and kept working on it until I figured it all out.

#3. Next you will want to do the outer wrapper the same way you did the background. When you paste your code, it will look like this: #outer-wrapper {background-image:url(";background-repeat:repeat-xy;
Save it and check your template again. For this there is one extra step. You can adjust the width of this wrapper by changing the pixels. Look for this: width: 780px; If you want it wider or skinner, just change the number portion on this code. Each time you change it, save and check it out and see what you like.

#4. No go have fun making your changes. Send me a note and let me see what you've done if you use this. It's not to hard once you get the hang of where you should be changing the code. There are all kinds of adjustments you can make. Remember, I am no expert...I just played around until I figured out how to do it...

I'm Home!

It feels good to be home. It's fun to go away, but it makes you realize that there is no place like home! We had a really wonderful trip to see my husbands family for Christmas in New Hampshire. I got what I wished for and that was a WHITE Christmas. The day we arrived was just after a snow storm and it was soooooo beautiful. Here is a picture of my sister-in-laws back yard. The snow was at least 2 feet deep. Megan was loving it. My brother-in-law on the other hand was not.He had to shovel off the roof of the house. Poor Dave... I am sure that he was cussing at me when I took this picture! LOL We had a very nice Christmas. Here is Megan and my handsome hubby. He actually kinda smiled! After Christmas, Megan and I took a trip over to Vermont where my parents used to live and to Grafton to get cheese. Grafton Village Cheese Co. has the "Best" cheese ever. So we made a day of it and took bunches of pictures.
We walked over to the covered bridge that they have on the property and took some pics.
Here is me standing by the bridge. Isn't it so beautiful there?
Here is Megan sitting on the fence by the bridge. I love this picture of her...
Megan looking out the window of the covered bridge.
The river that the covered bridge is over.Megan really wanted to make a snow angel. We should have done it when we first got to NH. The snow was all light and fluffy then. By the time we did this, there was a layer of ice on the snow from a day of sprinkles. LOL...she had to break thru the ice and really struggle hard to make this angel! She was pretty cold afterwards, but it was her first angel. Not too bad for crunchy snow!

Then we headed over to Saxtons River VT where my parents used to live. Yes....they lived in the boonies. I just love horses. These two were looking at us like we were nuts! Here is a sugar shack. I don't know if I would want to buy Maple Syrup that was made from this shack, but it sure made a cute picture.

More Horses.
Lonely white tree.
I leave you with this picture of a blanketed field and trees on a hill. We headed to Boston on Thursday for some sightseeing, but that will be another blog. I am just glad to be home and I am going to crawl into my nice comfy bed and go to sleep. Zzzzzzzzz

Merry Christmas

I hope today finds you happy and festive. I am sitting in New Hampshire at my sister in laws house as I write this. It is a house in the country and we are surrounded by trees and snow. We had a white Christmas. It was very nice...but now...I am ready to leave. There is only so much one can do out here...and I think I have done it! LOL I guess I really am a city girl. Tomorrow, I will head off to Vermont to see the rents (parents) old homestead. Whenever I come this way, I always go back and check out the house where they used to live and were my sisters and I would gather on holidays when we all lived here on the east coast. I will be buying some maple syrup to take home with me and also will be taking pictures. Then on Thursday, we head back down to Boston for a day of sightseeing and then fly back home to Las Vegas on Friday. I am ready for home. My own bed, my doggie, my kitties and just the comfort of home. When I return, I will be posting some pics of the beautiful snow that we had here. I do miss it sometimes, but for the most part...NO. I have been trying to read the book Fools Gold, Making Something From Nothing, by Susan Wooldridge. I figured that this would be prime reading time but I can not get into this book. It has some good ideas at times, but I have to read 10 pages to get to the one paragraph that resonates with me... It has been a struggle. I guess it's because I am not a new age kinda girl. Do all the art books around that tell you how to get in touch with your creative being have to be so...I don't know what word I am looking for....out there??? maybe I don't want to dredge down deep in my soul and conjure up injuries from the past so I can create..... I want to find the fun part of life...the whimsical, childlike essence in me that is free to do whatever I want... I guess I am finding I am not liking these books on the creative process because none of them are for me... Am I alone in this? Do most artists like all this free flowing hippie BS? I the middle of nowhere...thinking there are not many of us out there...the semi normal not "artsy" artists...does that make sense? I guess I will sign off for now until I get back to Vegas...maybe all this fresh air is affecting my brain!

I made myself something pretty

Here it is. My first necklace for myself. I am not much of a jewelry wearer until recently. I found these Citrine Nuggets and I feel in love with them. I made this with twisted steel. And the focal piece is a chandelier drop that I diamond glazed a picture of flowers from a vintage dictionary that I added some color to with water colors. I am really happy with the way it turned out and I am wearing it tomorrow. I know Jen will comment on it. If I could find some red gems that were faceted, I would love to make one of these again with the red.
Here is the close up of the drop.

So...any comments?

How sad is that?

Today as I started driving down the road to work, I noticed a couple of helicopters hovering in the sky above where my daughters school is. I shook my head in a realization that this would be on the local news for the next week or so. As I watched the news story tonight, it was interesting to me to listen to the kids talk about how they viewed the incident. Some of them seemed so nonchalant. Just another day in the normal life of a teenager at Mojave. Sad, sad, sad to think that this is an accepted thing. My daughter doesn't know any of the people involved, so I guess that is a good thing. When we moved to this house, we did so because she wanted to go to the school that all her friends were going to. We used to live on the Air Force Base before my hubby retired from active duty. All the kids from the base go to this school. But over the past 1 & 1/2 years since we moved to this neighborhood, it has started to take a downturn. Thank God we did not buy this house. Hopefully, we will be able to move to a new house by the time a new school year starts because, even Megan has decided that it's just not the kind of environment that she wants to go to school in. So...that is what I am focusing on. Buying our house. Getting out of to speak. I am very much looking forward to that. Thanks to everyone for their kind words.

Why is there so much violence recently?

Today, 6 kids were shot here in Las Vegas after they got off their bus from school. The school that my daughter goes to. I am so thankful that she was no where near where the incident took place. So thankful that it was not her involved, so thankful that she did not even know about it until I told her this evening. I am sure that she is texting all her friends right now trying to find out who was involved and what happened. I am sure the my space pages and comments are burning up the web right now. Hopefully, this will lead to the capture of those involved. I feel for the parents of these kids. About a year and a half ago, my daughter was beat up by a girl because my daughter told this girls boyfriend to chill. This incident happened on the Air Force base so, not much was done to her because she was a civilian so the military police couldn't do anything to her and Metro told me they couldn't do anything because it was on a military installation. It was soooo frustrating. And they had evidence too. The sister of the girl video taped it because they were gonna post it on my space. I was just so disgusted with the whole situation. The very next day, that girl was walking around the base like nothing ever happened! I guess her parents didn't care. I tell you what, if it was my daughter who had started it....she would have been sentenced to life in the house! Life was rough for my daughter for awhile. I was seriously worried that this girl would hurt Megan. It all came to a head when she came to my daughters school one day with the intention of beating her up. Megan called me and told me she was there and she said she was scared. So I tried to call the school. No one would respond to me, so I left work and went down there and I made a big scene. Megan was none to happy but I didn't care. The school police caught this girl and had her arrested. Finally...some justice. We had to go to court. When we showed up, I glared at the girl and her mother...a few minutes later, a court person came out and told us that we could go. That she had pleaded guilty and that she would be given instructions to stay away from Megan or she would go to Juvie. That was pretty much the end of it. I wish more parents would be involved in their kids life. Sometimes Megan thinks I am too nosey, but I want to know what is going on in her life. It's a scary world out there...keep you kids close. Sometimes....I wish I lived in a small town, far far away from the big city.

Last Chance to Comment! #149

This is the last blog before my giveaway! Comment before Monday evening and you will have a chance to win something I am creating. I have been playing today. On my computer that is. I learned how to change the backgrounds on my blog and add different things. It only took me about 4 hours! I have the hang of it now! I should have been creating art but I saw someone Else's blog recently that had different backgrounds and I just had to figure out how to do it! So what do you think? I am loving it.

Ok...I had to edit this post because I am finished with my latest creation for the give away! Here it is:
"Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Men"
Here is a close up:
It is made with Aqua Marine Faceted gems, quartz, steel, and a cute miniature perfume bottle I found at the antique store last week. I made the chain in back long, but you can shorten to your liking. I will be making my daughter pick up the name out of a jar tomorrow night after I get home from work. Good luck everyone!

Yeah It's Over! #148

Finally, it is over. Here are some pictures I took today. I was so busy with the party today that I forgot to take pictures during it! To many people to show around and not enough time to spend with any of them. So, we shall start off in the reception area. Here is the waiting area across from the reception desk. Next is our ceiling in the new part of the building. We have the same thing in the old part, but I thought I would show what we do. We are a paint, drywall, plaster, acoustical ceiling company. Next is our conference room. Look at Jen in her office. She looks like she just started working there it's so empty looking. Believe me, it will not look like this tomorrow when she is working! LOL As she explained it today to someone, tomorrow is gonna be like after Thanksgiving Dinner, when you have to unbutton your pants and everything just pops out. That is how her office will be...she is gonna have to undo 2 buttons! Here is our Payroll Supervisor Rochelle in her nice and clean office. How much you want to make a bet that by the end of next week there will be stuff piled on top of those black cabinets??? LOL Rochelle...wanna make a bet? And here is my son Steven, slaving away on some prints for his boss. Ok...I thought I would show a picture of my old office that Jessica has taken over. Of course she has it much neater then I ever did. It is a tiny office compared to what I have now. So that is the conclusion of the build out. It will be nice to get back to my normal work load and have a home life again. Only 2 more posts and I will announce the winner of the comment drawing! I have off on Friday (my boss is being nice to me) so I am going to try and create my give away! I have something very cool in mind, I just hope I can find a way to make it work.

One more day until I get my life back #147

Today was a stressful day for me. BUT I am going to focus on the positive instead of the stupid men I work with sometimes. Ok...there was a little bit of negative but I had to just get it off my chest. Tomorrow is our open house for our new build out and today was getting the place finished. I felt like I was on Design Star and Clive was about to come in and blow the horn and tell us that was it! But I must say that the office looks DAMN good if I do say so myself! If it wasn't for the girls in the office and a few of the guys from the labor end of our company, it wouldn't look as good as it does. We really busted ass today and I am very appreciative to them for doing sooooo much. The cleaning people are working tonight to get to all the things we didn't want to do, like baseboards etc. Here is a pic of Jen sorting a box in her new office.

But the best part, I think, LOL...not that I am biased at all, is my new office. I love it. And it's cleaned and organized..LOL....just don't look in the closet. Ok Ok...I couldn't get to everything! But here it is.
It used to be our old conference room, so I have a pretty ceiling and what other people call mood lighting, but I love it WAY more than the fluorescent lights. I will be taking pictures of the rest of the office tomorrow when the catering people have done all their set up. (So can see the finished product from when I showed you all the mess.) And what a mess it was. The greatest part of this whole thing??? I get to be normal after tomorrow. No more organizing, cleaning, fussing, worrying, working late. I will be able to do some art. I can concentrate on my own life again. Ahhhh...Sigh....Yeah! Tomorrow will be a good day. I deem it so. See Jen...I am optimistic!
