The submission that wasn't

Where have I been for the last few days??? Working on the house and on a piece for Belle Armoire Jewelry. I got an email saying that they had extended the deadline to May 1st, so I was very happy about that as I hadn't had time since I was in the middle of a move and unpacking etc. But...I hate that word but, cause you always know that something bad happens after it. But...I worked my little heart out on it...and I am not happy with it. Well, let me rephrase that. I am unhappy with the leaf part. I made a number of mistakes on it and it is just not the quality that I would like to represent me. So, needless to say...it is not being sent. Here it is for your viewing:I am OK with not sending it. I believe in fate so it wasn't meant to be. Maybe I am destined to be in some other issue or something. Who knows, but I will be redoing the leaf because I really like the rest of it. It will look cute when I finish it correctly. I did learn a few things from making it so that is always a good thing.

Dim Sum

What does that name mean to you? Maybe you like it, maybe you don't. Maybe you have never tried it or maybe you don't even know what it is and don't want to know. Well, the later is me. I have no desire to try it or even know what it is. BUT...I let Jennifer convince me to go to lunch with her at this Chinese restaurant in our local China Town here in Vegas. Hmmmm...did I just make a big mistake? So we walk into this restaurant, and it is pretty authentic Chinese. None of the tables had forks on them until we walked in, only chopsticks. Then the forks came out for us. Hmmm...do they think we can't eat with chopsticks? They handed us the menu. I looked for something familiar..but all I saw were WAY OUT there dishes...like things with chicken feet. "What has she gotten us into?" I think. I quickly scanned the menu and found my safe bet. Sweet & Sour Pork. You just can't go wrong with that dish. Jen of course called me a chicken and decided to eat the Dim Sum. As the ladies wheeled the carts around, I saw fried shrimp with the heads still on and their little beady eyes looking out at you from the plate they were on. The first thing Jen got looked ok and she liked them. Then she got some noodles, which looked good too. Ok I thought, maybe it's not so bad. She really wanted some dumplings. But, there was kind of a language barrier and when the steamed cart lady came, I told Jen, just try something...and she did. There it is...something with Pork is what I think they said. And here is Jen after she tasted it, with her FAKE smile, after she grimaced when she bit into it. LOL She said...oh...I don't like it. There were 3 more pieces left. I told her to dig in! Nummy....LOL needless to say, not another one was eaten. She called it a "Food Adventure". I said yeah, I had fun watching you eat that stuff and laughed.

Tonight, as I was trying to find some of the menu from the restaurant, I found this review:

"It's not dim sum from San Francisco so if you come in not expecting that, it's not too bad at all"

I had to laugh because Jen had just been to SF and had Dim Sum there and that is why she wanted to go again...Sorry Jen...I guess you will have to go back to SF for your Dim Sum...ummm but don't expect me to try it...

Another Peek

On one of my bookcases, I had an old typewriter. I saw somewhere...can't remember where, that someone had put a picture in where you would put the paper, so I decided I would do that too. I decided on a DJ Pettitt Print that I had. Cute! Here is where I will do my jewelry work. I will have everything at my fingertips! It's great. I can't wait to use it which will be this weekend! yeah!I am still unpacking. A little everyday. It's slow but I am the turtle...I will finish!

For my impatient sister...Lynn

Ok Lynn, LOL Here are some more pics...BUT not of my room yet. Nothing has changed since the last pics I posted. I was supposed to work on it today, but I went shopping for my living room instead and then I had my son and his fiance over for dinner. Everything in the living room is new furniture wise except for the entertainment center. These pics aren't the best as they were taken with the evening light. And it's not quite done but I will let you see anyways.

View from Dining Room area to Living Room area:So now you see that it is one long big room. I love my buffet I found at The Great Indoors and with the help of Jen I got a 25% discount! She is one person to take shopping with you. She can get anybody to give you a discount! Next is the view from beside the entertainment center looking back towards the Dining Room and Kitchen:These are not the couches I had originally picked out. But I decided to be more practical. These will hide fur better! LOL Check out the area rug. I got creative and found it at Walmart. It is actually 2 5x8 rugs put together. It was way cheaper that buying a 8 x 10 and was the perfect color! Jen you would be proud of me! And then...there is my favorite chair on which the whole living room was based off of. Ignore the mess in the background. I am still unpacking remember and that is by the entrance to my studio.Don't you just love the wine barrel as my side table??? I won it on eBay! I LOVE it! You should have seen my bosses face when he saw the wine barrel come to the office. He just looked at me and shook his head. He thinks I am odd. Then I found the lamp today in my shopping spree. I thought it was cute. That's it for tonight. Tomorrow after work, the real work starts...on my room. I must have about 30 boxes waiting to be unpacked....Sigh...

For my sisters to see.

Ok sisters (and anyone else who cares), here are some pictures of parts of the new place. I am taking them as I get the rooms complete. So today, Terry mowed the lawn and made it pretty. Here it is:It's back yard is HUGE compared to the other house. In the other house the pool was right off the patio and now it's in the back. I love it! Missy likes all the space too. She likes to jump up on the back ledge and look out over the yard like she is lord and master! LOL

Here is the kitchen:Here is the Dining Room/Kitchen View 1:The sliding glass door leads to the back yard. The whole downstairs has the brown ceramic tile which I love. Except for my office space which has carpet. Here is Dining Room/Kitchen View 2:The white door leads into the laundry room which also leads to the garage. I really like that I have a laundry room instead of a closet and that the garage leads right into the kitchen for a change. The far door on the right is my walk in pantry, which I love also. Behind the dining room is the living room. It's like one big long room. I am not done with it yet so you will have to wait for pics on that. I have to get a area rug and a couple of lamps and then I can take the pics. Terry also put up the shelves in my studio space so I will be working on my room tonight and tomorrow. Stay tuned for more pics! I am loving this house! Who knows, maybe we will buy it!

Blank Slate:

The Artistic Side with Megan chilling in my chair. I know...messy already! That is just after move day with some stuff that was just piled in here.Next is the computer side:
This weekend will be my weekend to unpack and put things away. I never got to make my submissions that I was supposed to. I guess it wasn't meant to be. After I get settled, I will be creating again. This has taken alot out of me. Phewwww, I am tired!

All Moved

We are finished moving and now comes the unpacking and putting stuff, lots of stuff, into it's new home. I am loving my new place. It has a good vibe and flow to it. I will be taking pictures and posting soon. I would have had some already but apparently during the move, my computer died and I am trying to resurrect it. I think it's the power supply. I am hoping that is it! Thank God I started saving all my pics and important stuff to a portable hard drive! Thanks Sandy & Cengiz! LOL...they are the ones who put it on my computer. So stayed tuned for future pictures...

Starting the moving process!

So yesterday we got the keys to the new place and my hubby put together my new desk. I brought over my bookcases so I could see what it would look like and I am loving it! I will be taking pictures as it progresses. I hate moving but I LOVE the chance to start new and fresh! In this house we are moving into, I have a walk in pantry and I am just soooooo happy about that too! I won't be able to post until Sunday now, so TTFN (Ta Ta For Now)!

Green Eyed Monster

Today I had a visit from the green eyed monster called jealousy. I am trying to not let it get to me, but it's kinda hard. I suppose if this person had been nice to me when I had met them instead of snubbing me, than I would be happy for their success, I felt (remember that phrase) that this person looked down on me before this person even got to know me. But, it could have been only my imagination that this person snubbed me but I am pretty good at reading people. So...the only thing I can control is how I feel! Right? Isn't that the saying, you can't control what happens to you only how you react to it? Well hell, right now I feel jealous! How do you get past it? I keep saying to myself, at least I am unique and this other person just copies everyone else... I guess that is how I will get myself out of this slump! LOL

4 Days till moving day and one more task complete

Tonight I worked on my "special" project that I was supposed to do a few weeks ago! I think it turned out pretty cool. I took $30.00 bookcases from Walmart and glued Dictionary pages to the back. Here is how it turned out. Both Bookcases: Close up:I can't wait to set up my new space! Moving gives you the chance to organize things again and change it up. Won't these look good next to my new desk? One on each side?

7 more days till moving day!

Ok...so, I have my room left to pack. Every time I walk in here, I get overwhelmed. I have taken down my shelves above my computer and the bookshelves that are on top of the filing cabinets. It look kind of empty from this position, but when I turn around????? It's like I haven't done anything! So today, we shall see if I can make some headway on this place. I just have to remember...a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step! LOL

P.S. I had my Art Clay class yesterday and I had fun. I learned the basics and now when I get my new studio space set up, I will be ready to play. I am very excited about that as I have many ideas!

All quiet on the home front

Blogland is kind of quiet right now as alot of people are at ArtFest. I wish I had been able to go but it was not in the cards. I guess fate knew that I would be moving during this time of the year and made it so that I couldn't go. I am hoping to go next year. We shall see what the future holds. But for now, I am enjoying the present. I am going to be taking my ArtClay class tomorrow. Yeah! Very excited. Also excited to see what the show floor is gonna look like with all the vendors. Shopping here I come! Sorry Jen...I have to spend! LOL Money is burning a whole in my pocket!
