Portland Sightseeing

On Saturday, Lynn and I took the day off from classes and decided that we would sight see around the Portland Area. I am so used to the color tan, brown, beige, sand, khaki, cream, toast, bronze, ecru, camel that when I see green, I am a picture happy girl! Also, we hardly ever get rain in Vegas so when I see clouds and fog....it's such a novelty that I notice all the little things about them. Like the little wispy bit of cloud that gets stuck in the trees. It's like they don't want the little cloud to leave them.... So we head down to see Multnomah Falls. I love water falls. The sound of the water rushing through the rocks reminds me of when I was a kid and we used to play by the streams and the rivers. I am a water girl. Streams, Lakes, Rivers, Seas, Bays, Oceans...I love them all. The first waterfall along our way was Wahkenna Falls.
It was sprinkling a little but I didn't care. Good thing I wore a headband to control my hair! LOL or you would probably would have been scared of this picture! So on to the next stop. But before we left there, I had to take a picture of the locals. He looked and me with the little eyes poking out from his head and asked me what the hell I was looking at. It must have been before 10am! I told him that he really reminded me of someone from Las Vegas. That her name was Jen and they had much in common! They were both VERY VERY SLOW and that she was not a morning person either!!!!!! LOL Love ya Jen!

Next was the reason we came this way. Multnomah Falls! Here is what Wikipedia says: Multnomah Falls is a waterfall on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge, located east of Troutdale, between Corbett and Dodson, along the Historic Columbia River Highway. The falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet (165 m) and a lower falls of 69 feet (21 m), with a gradual 9 foot (3 m) drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 620 feet (189 m). Multnomah Falls is the second tallest year-round waterfall in the United States after Yosemite
We walked up the trail and across the bridge. What a neat feeling to be up on that bridge and feel the mist from the waterfall.
As we walked back down, I saw this view from the trail. It is my favorite picture from our sightseeing! So we decided to go further down the road a bit to see what else there was and we ran into Horse Tail Falls. As we parked, I noticed the railroad tracks and I decided to go take a few pictures. As I was climbing over there, my sister got a few shots of my rear end taking these pictures! LOL Thank god she can't post to my blog! On to the Falls...As you can see, it does kinda look like a horse tail. I think this one was my favorite, not because it was big or anything, but that I could go play on the rocks by the water! When I was younger any time I came upon a river or stream, the first thing I would do is go walk across the rocks. It's no different now that I am grown up. I still love playing on the rocks. Nature is an amazing playground and I think that as adults, we tend to forget about how wonderful it is to let go and be a kid again. I like to look at everything around me with the curiosity of a wide eyed little kid. Seeing the world for the first time. Try it one day and you will be amazed at how much you see, feel and hear....

After the falls, we went to the Portland Saturday Craft Market. It was very interesting.

Then we went down to Alberta Street, bought some great ribbon, headed over to Claim Jumper to eat lunch and then back to our room for a quick nap before we went down for Vendor night at Art & Soul. A very tiring day indeed.

I leave you with this last picture I took of the day.

Notice the little black clouds against all the big white puffy clouds? Remember...you are the big puffy clouds....don't let the little black rain clouds ruin your parade! You are bigger than they are! Kick ass and take names! The sun always comes back out and brightens the day!

LOL....I am just relaxed...I cant help it if I enjoy life as it comes!
Sounds like you had a fun filled day up here in Oregon. The Falls are a beautiful place to visit. Sometimes my family gets the urge to drive the loop. Which we go up over Mt. Hood, loop around to Cascade locks, have some lunch and then head home down I-84 stopping at Multnomah Falls.
It was great to finally meet you in person.
Take Care.
